Successful completion of this comprehensive program enables immediate membership with Yoga Australia at Level 1. It encompasses 2 years of intensive instruction in a small group environment to maximize learning. This course is offered on weekdays and weekends.
The next Two Year Program commences in February, 2012 with intensive classes held on alternate Tuesdays. The next weekend program will commence in February 2013.
For the February 2012 programme requirements include an asana class requirement of a minimum of 3 classes per week. In addition there will be 3-4 hr workshops on approximately 12 Saturdays throughout the 2 years. Class observations and assisting in classes is an additional requirement in the second year. Written assignments and practical assessments will be required and an extensive reading list provided.
The two year training is an inspirational program that enables you to deepen and enrich your personal practice while you acquire the skills and confidence necessary to teach yoga. The curriculum covers training in the practice of asana, pranayama, kriyas and mantra techniques as well as studies in meditation, anatomy, physiology, philosophy and ethics, Yoga Sutra, Tantra, Chakras and Ayurveda. Further areas of study will be teaching methodology with practice demonstrations, observation, instruction in teaching and learning styles, as well as asana alignment and adjustments. Opportunities will be provided to observe and adjust in class.

Year One
Year one of the Two Year Program includes teacher training lectures during school terms, as well as scheduled Saturdays of Anatomy & Physiology and Workshops. Attendance at approximately 3 yoga classes per week is required. Note - the yoga class requirement can also be made up by attending Tamara Yoga Retreats. Private study, practical assessment and written assignments are required.
Year Two
Year two of the Two Year Program continues with teacher training lectures during school terms, as well as scheduled Saturdays of Teachers Only Asana classes and Workshops. Attendance at approximately 3 yoga classes per week is required. Note - the yoga class requirement can also be made up by attending Tamara Yoga Retreats. Opportunites to observe and assist in class are provided. Written assignments, practical assessments and the successful completion of a written exam is required.
